Bac Lieu Town, 280 kilometers southwest of Ho chi minh city has, alongside many attractions, a vibrant gastronomic center where tempting Mekong Delta specialties are served.
For over 15 years, Vo Cong Khanh, a renowned actor of “hat boi,” and his family in Vinh long Province, has made hundreds of splendid historical costumes for the “queens” and “kings” of hat boi troupes throughout the Mekong Delta.
The year 2008 is Mekong Delta National Tourism Year and the delta region is attracting many domestic and foreign visitors with a variety of tourism activities.
The fourth Khmer cultural, sports and tourism festival will take place in the Mekong Delta city of Can tho in the fourth quarter of this year, according to the Ministry of the Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Thank to typical features, waterways in the Mekong Delta are attractive for not only international travelers but also locals.
Authorities of Can tho have decided on the building of the first five-star hotel in the city, the hub of the Mekong Delta.
Chau Doc Town is located in the southern province of An Giang on the border with Cambodia. Visitors to the town can learn about the daily activities of people who live on the river in the Mekong Delta in the Hau River, also called Bassac River, the popular entry and exit road between Cambodia and Vietnam
The Mekong Delta Fruit Festival 2008 is being held at My Khanh tourist village in Phong Dien district, Can tho city from now until June 2.
